My volunteering at FED has been a unique and very rewarding experience. I collaborated with the Women’s Program for three months and interacted closely with the women working at the women’s center (WEDA), whom I feel proud to call my friends. I got very impressed with these women. They had to leave their country and are living in hard conditions in Thailand, but they still keep a big smile, a high spirit, and keep fighting to help other women like them in the Burmese communities. I am very grateful to them because they accepted me and made me feel like one more of them. We worked hard together, but also enjoyed very good moments that I won’t ever forget.

With my friends from WEDA, I did a survey on women living in different Burmese communities in the area. This gave me the opportunity to talk to many other Burmese women and learn about their lives. These women also left a big impression on me. Particularly many of the young ones, that are looking for an opportunity for something better in their lives. I am glad that FED is doing such an important and big job to help these women, their children and husbands live in Thailand. Besides other types of supports, FED is offering them education at many levels, the most valuable gift that you can offer to other people. I hope that FED keeps receiving all the support that it deserves, from international organizations, and also from individual volunteers that always can help so much.
