Our Community Health Workers program is designed to train Burmese migrants to provide minor medical to their respective communities. We currently have 19 active CHWs who have undergone an intensive one month training session and now help in their communities on a voluntary basis. During training, the CHWs learned about common medical problems in the area and were given hands-on experience in interacting with patients. Aung Kyi (our head medic) led the training process and continues to visit the CHWs in their communities to deliver medical supplies and discuss issues that the workers have encountered. Additionally, every 3 months, there is a gathering for all the CHWs to update and review their medical knowledge. This program has been incredibly helpful, as it allows us to care for people with minor illnesses or injuries even when we do not have the staff to go to every community on a daily basis. This program has been extraordinarily successful and we have plans to train more Community Health Workers soon.
