Foundation for Education and Development (formerly Grassroots HRE) is working to promote education, human rights, and the development of safe, working environment for Burmese migrants and their families in Thailand. Our programs are currently focused on Burmese migrants in Phang Nga, South Thailand and Mae Sot. We are working with other regional and international organizations to achieve our goals.

20120126aThe Foundation for Education and Development (FED) today launched a campaign for the election of the National League for Democracy (NLD) Party in the upcoming by-election in Burma. The NLD, led by pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, has registered to run in a by-election to fill 48 parliamentary seats left vacant when cabinet members and deputy ministers assumed their posts. The National League for Democracy (NLD) party head will run in Kawhmu, southwest of Rangoon, in polls on 1 April. Her party boycotted the last elections but has now rejoined the political process amid reform in Burma.

FED Joins IOM in Flood Relief Efforts in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province PDF Print E-mail

20120125_01aThe Foundation for Education and Development (FED) joined recently with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to deliver emergency relief supplies to flood-stricken areas in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. At IOM’s request, FED joined IOM’s flash flood emergency relief team to assist in the distribution of emergency supplies. In all, the relief team comprised fifteen members: seven from IOM, six from FED, and three volunteers from the local area.

20120116a13 January 2012, Khuk Khak, Thailand—Learning Center students enrolled in Foundation for Education and Development (FED) schools today held a ceremony here in observance of Thailand’s National Children's Day. This marks the sixth consecutive year that FED students have held an observance of Children’s Day. Also celebrated was the recent release of Burmese political prisoners by the Burmese government.
